As a K-8 children's publisher, Heinemann Library is truly unique. On staff are education professionals who research current curriculum standards and to determine appropriate grade level. All subjects must be curriculum appropriate and at the correct level before being considered for publication. Editors and authors are specialists in their area of concern i.e. science, history, etc. This assures that a Heinemann book will be a cut above one done by an author-editor team that is not interested in the area of study the are doing a book on. An on staff former school librarian reviewies manuscript to be sure that it answers questions that kids are likely to ask. Finally, actual kid focus groups review the books before they are published to catch any unseen problems.

One half of the Heinemann Library offering is composed of a book series from Pre-K to grade 9. Many titles are suitable for use in High Schools or with adults with low reading levels. All titles are non-fiction and are in various curriculum areas including art and physical educaiton.

The other half of the catalog is composed of "Branded Series." A branded series is one in which many "series" have common design features including the reading level, interest level, font, front matter and back matter as well as a common audience. The major brands are:

Read and Learn - Described in the catalog on pages 2 - 3. Read and Learn is composed of 33 series with 235 titles. It is designed for the Pre-K to 1 audience. Although designed for a young audience, these titles have full front matter and back matter. You will find large stunning photos, one or 2 sentences per page, boldface words leading to the Glossary and many other features.

Lee y aprende - Spanish titles with the same titles, levels and features of "Read and Learn."

Heinemann Infosearch - Described in the catalog on page 85. This brand is designed for research in grades 3 - 5. Each chapter begins with a question, then leads the student through the information needed to formulate the answers. Full front matter and back matter and many "factoids blocks" provide tidbits of information.

Heinemann Know It - Described in the catalog on page 93. This brand is designed for more accomplished students in grades 3 - 5. Packed with primary source material.

Heinemann State Studies - See page 100 for the series and for the Colordao, Utah and Wyoming titles.
